The Canon BJC-85 is one of the best portable printers available. It boasts ultra light weight, excellent compatibility, long battery life, compact dimensions and unmatched functionality. Here are some important details about the printer
To begin with, the BJC-85 is one of the most successful Canon printers in any of the printing formats, be it portable, handheld or desktop. This is because it has excellent usability. First of all, it is compatible with almost every brand of operating system including the Windows family (including 95, 98, XP, VISTA, Windows palm OS etc), the Macintosh family (OSX, Palm VX) and open-source operating systems like Linux. If a person is not a Windows user, few choices are left to work with and this Canon printer is probably the best.
It is not only its compatibility with multiple operating systems that makes it a hit. The BJC 85 also features ultra light-weight (only 4.5 lbs with the battery and optional AC adapter) and compact size. It fits perfectly inside a briefcase or a laptop bag. The dimensions are 11.8” (length) X 2.3” (height) X 6.2” (breadth). Thus it is extremely practical. It hardly increases the weight on your shoulders and is very easy to carry around in a bag.
If you are on the move for long hours, the BJC-85 will run with you. You will never find it playing tricks because firstly it is highly compatible and secondly it is equipped with a NiMH battery which can print about two hundred pages on one full charge. Moreover, the battery recharges in a fairly short amount of time too.
There is still more, the BJC-85 has three connection interfaces, a standard USB port, a high speed IrDA (Infrared) port and an IEEE 1284 parallel port. Thus, while on the go, you just need connect the printer and begin printing immediately.
The printer is also equipped with a 30 sheets automatic feeder so you can stack a number of pages, give upto thirty pages of scan command and continue working on something else while the BJC-85 prints away. The second weakness is that the printer is a little slow; its output speed is 5 black pages or 2 color pages per minute. However, this speed is good enough when on the move, especially if you are on a train or bus where it would be easier to handle a slower rate of printing.
Cutting a long story short, the Canon BJC-85 is truly worth its popularity but high priced at $529.34 for a brand new machine.
