HP Photosmart 8750 Review

The HP Photosmart 8750 is HP’s gift to photographers who crave professional-quality photos. With 9-ink color prints, color management controls and the flexibility HP printers have always provided, this printer produces images which are 99% realistic due to their vibrant colors. Yet, if you believe that black and white images are of less quality, you are mistaken. Photographers can print out artistic black and white photos with equal quality and precise resolution.

HP 8750 Photosmart is well known to provide rich color, precise detail and exact skin tones. It is also a good printer for producing portraits, landscapes and other photo assignments. In fact, with the software bundle that comes with the printer, and other popular image editing software like Adobe Photoshop, the printer can produce images which capture the photographer’s vision. One of the secrets behind this is HP’s Digital Zone, which defines print values for shades of different colors.

Some of the features which make the HP Photosmart 8750 photo printer a good buy include:

  • An extended color palette which insures different hues and shades of all nine colors available in the cartridge
  • Quick  and accurate print of proofs
  • Ease of update and enhancement
  • Multi-size trays are available to print up to 13 by 19 inches on matte or glossy paper
  • A media sensor which can allow customized printing orders
  • Network printing facility available through wires or wireless media
  • Index photo proofing from memory cards can be printed quickly

As for the printer’s software, its controls are easy to learn and navigate, especially with the help of the LCD screen placed on top of the printer. Plus, different operations, including the more tedious one of canceling print jobs, will not take any time to execute. Aside from that, the printer’s own driver interface has helpful shortcuts and controls which can allow you to make your own adjustments to the color and output.

Yet, with all these features, you will have to make some compromises. One of the disadvantages of this printer is that you will have to throw away the whole cartridge if one of the nine inks runs out. Yet, HP has a few tricks up its sleeve, and offers high capacity alternatives for some of the inks. Another problem is the amount of time the printer needs. The largest image you can print with this HP printer can take approximately 10 minutes. Yet, with the quality you will get in the end, all the time the printer takes will be forgotten.

Overall, the HP Photosmart 8750 has its pros and cons, yet it is the prior that is more than the latter, so are you interested in owning one?
